Ball python rescued from Windsor sewage plant

A staff member at a sewage treatment plant in Windsor, Ontario, found a ball python in a collection bin after the snake was first spotted underground in the facility’s screening system. According to the Windsor/Essex County Humane Society, a worker safely retrieved the reptile at the Little River Pollution Control Plant and contacted an animal protection officer for help. The society said the snake is now receiving medical care. The humane society also used the incident to remind people not to release exotic pets into the environment. It said many animals have been recovered from the plant’s screening system before, and noted that the source of this snake has not been confirmed.
