Fundraisers reach $3 million goal for Dawson Creek MRI project

Public MRI in Dawson Creek will speed scans and cut travel for South Peace patients. Support the new hospital's diagnostic care and help ease waits across the region.

A fundraising campaign for a public MRI machine in Dawson Creek, B.C., has reached its $3 million target, according to the Dawson Creek and District Hospital Foundation. The machine is planned for the new hospital in the city, which is expected to open in 2027. Foundation officials say it would be the first publicly funded MRI in the South Peace region, where patients often travel to other communities for scans and face long waits for diagnostic care. Local supporters say the service should ease pressure on nearby hospitals in Fort St. John and Prince George, reduce travel time for patients, and improve care for people who need faster diagnosis after serious injuries.
