Metro Vancouver bus drivers reject tentative labour deal

Metro Vancouver transit bus operators have voted to reject a tentative labour agreement with Coast Mountain Bus Company, according to Unifor Locals 111 and 2200. The unions said members are not immediately moving toward job action and will instead work with negotiators and the employer on changes they want to see in a revised deal. Unifor western regional director Gavin McGarrigle said the union is continuing talks to secure those changes. The vote comes after the two sides announced a tentative agreement on June 22 to avoid a possible strike. Earlier in the bargaining process, workers had voted 99% in favour of strike action, and the union said that strike mandate remains in place. The voting results have not yet been released.
