Oshawa assault charge: police allege nanny was drugged and sexually assaulted Investigators say evidence found in the home may point to more victims
Durham Regional Police say an Oshawa man has been charged after allegedly drugging a livein nanny with ice cream and sexually assaulting her.
According to police, the woman came to Canada in December 2025 after connecting with a family through a Facebook au pair group. She lived in the home in Oshawa and cared for the couple’s children in exchange for room and board.
Investigators allege the man gave her ice cream on Dec. 12, after which she became incoherent, lost consciousness and later had no memory of the rest of the night. Medical testing later found a noxious substance in her system, and police say evidence collected during a search of the home supported the sexual assault investigation. Officers also say they found child sexual abuse and exploitation material. Derek Bellamy, 38, was arrested on Wednesday and is being held for a bail hearing. Police say there may be more victims, and the allegations have not been proven in court.
