Former Blue Jays pitcher Duane Ward dies at 62

Former Toronto Blue Jays relief pitcher Duane Ward, a twotime World Series champion, has died at the age of 62. The team said he died of natural causes in Toronto. Ward played for the Blue Jays from 1986 to 1995 and appeared in 452 games. He recorded 121 saves, making him one of the franchise leaders in that category. Ward arrived in Toronto on Friday before the club’s ceremony for its 1992 and 1993 championship teams, but he did not attend the event. He was inducted into the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame in 2020, and the Blue Jays said he remained an important part of the organization’s history.
