Kamloops bridal beauty agency closes amid complaints of cancellations and unpaid debts
Kamloops bridal beauty agency shuts down after refund and booking complaints Clients and contractors share #BridalGate claims as the owner cites health issues
A Kamloops, British Columbia, bridal beauty agency has shut down after clients and contractors publicly accused it of lastminute cancellations, doublebookings and unpaid bills.
The company, Cassidy Watt Artistry Collective, closed after a wave of social media posts in early September. Owner Cassidy Watt said the shutdown was due to health problems and said she is working to issue refunds.
Several brides said they were left scrambling days or hours before their weddings when their original bookings were cancelled and replacement artists were arranged, sometimes after other artists had already been booked. Contractors also told CBC News they were still owed money for completed work and expenses, with some saying they had been waiting for repayment for years.
The complaints have spread online under the hashtag BridalGate, and affected clients and workers are now gathering records and considering small claims filings as they seek refunds and back pay.
