Fiserv Launches Bank Stablecoin on Solana in First Production Use
Fiserv digital-asset platform goes live with Roughrider Coin on Solana See how banks use stablecoins for faster settlement, treasury, and money movement
Fiserv said on October 1 that its digitalasset platform is now live for financial institution clients, with Roughrider Coin serving as the first production use case. The dollarbacked stablecoin was created for Bank of North Dakota to help improve interbank money movement.
The system uses Solana for blockchain transaction processing, while VersaBank acts as issuer and Fireblocks provides tokenization and security infrastructure. Fiserv links the product into existing banking systems, making the setup closer to standard financial infrastructure than a retail crypto app.
The deployment gives Solana a role in a regulated banking payment workflow rather than a consumer trading product. It also adds another example of stablecoins being used for settlement and treasury functions inside financial institutions.
