Quebec rock duo Angine de Poitrine has won the 2026 Polaris Music Prize for their album v. II, earning $30,000 for the win.
The Saguenay, Quebec act, made up of Klek and Khn, accepted the award at Toronto’s Massey Hall through their manager, who praised the band’s unusual and complex style. The duo also received the $10,000 song prize for “Fabienk,” becoming the first act to win both awards since the song prize was introduced last year.
The band has drawn growing attention this year after a clip of their performance spread online, and they later played a free Montreal Jazz Festival concert that set an attendance record. They also opened for Jack White in Toronto and toured across the U.S., Japan, the Netherlands and the U.K. Other finalists for the prize included Charlotte Cornfield, Bibi Club and Beverly GlennCopeland.
