Third BC minister says they will not run in snap election
British Columbia election: Ravi Kahlon won’t seek re-election as a third NDP minister steps aside before Oct. 24 vote and North Delta prepares for change
Health Minister Ravi Kahlon has said he will not seek reelection in British Columbia’s Oct. 24 snap vote, becoming the third minister in Premier David Eby’s cabinet to step aside.
The announcement follows earlier decisions by Kelly Greene and Lana Popham not to run again. Greene cited concerns about the risks of the NDPbacked Tilbury LNG facility in waterways near her RichmondSteveston riding, while Popham said she was sad to leave office but looks forward to contributing in other ways.
Kahlon said Tuesday that he believes it is the right time for the next champion of North Delta to step forward. Eby called the provincial election one week after the municipal vote on Oct. 17.
