The Gordie Howe International Bridge between Windsor, Ontario, and Detroit, Michigan, is set to open on July 27, according to the federal government.
Canada and Michigan reached an agreement on Friday with support from the U.S. government. Officials said the arrangement includes measures on toll governance and transparency, along with a 15year economic development fund linked to a share of bridge operations profits.
The sixlane cablestayed bridge spans about 2.4 kilometres across the Detroit River. It has been under construction since 2018 and is expected to ease congestion at the Ambassador Bridge and the DetroitWindsor Tunnel.
A ribboncutting had been planned for June 12 but was postponed after discussions between Canada and the United States over unresolved issues.
