Quebec election leaders prepare for first debate
Quebec election enters final stretch as leaders prep for first debate Tuesday Track the latest polls, party plans, and key campaign shifts before Oct. 5
Quebec party leaders are entering the final stretch of their campaign as the first leaders’ debate approaches on Tuesday. The province is in the 18th day of campaigning, with election day set for Oct. 5.
The Quebec Liberal Party is expected to release its financial framework on Monday, while the Parti Québécois will be the last party to present its own plan. PQ leader Paul StPierre Plamondon has said he plans to do that on the same day as the debate.
Recent polling has suggested the Parti Québécois was ahead earlier in the race, but newer surveys indicate the Coalition Avenir Québec may be gaining ground as the campaign progresses.
