Quebec’s police disciplinary tribunal has suspended three Quebec provincial police officers and two Montreal police officers over a 2018 pursuit that left a Montreal woman seriously injured.
According to the ruling released last week, officers chased a suspect through downtown Montreal and the PlateauMontRoyal area before the vehicle ended up on Sherbrooke Street, where the driver struck a woman shovelling snow outside her home.
The tribunal said the officers should have stopped the pursuit because the suspect was driving with a suspended licence and the chase created unnecessary risk in a dense urban area. It imposed suspensions ranging from 30 to 42 days and ordered four officers to undergo additional training on driving and pursuits.
