Vancouver police officer linked to real estate lawsuits before arrest
Kal Dosanjh real estate lawsuits: court records tie him to Fraser Valley deals See how investors say millions moved and what the fraud case could reveal
Vancouver police officer Kal Dosanjh was involved in a series of real estate lawsuits before his arrest last week on fraud, theft and breach of trust charges, according to court records.
The civil claims focus on failed development projects in the Fraser Valley, including a Surrey property that investors say was used to secure millions of dollars in loans without their knowledge. Those funds were allegedly moved into other properties in Surrey, Mission, Abbotsford and Chilliwack.
Dosanjh, a longtime Vancouver police officer and cofounder of a youth antigang nonprofit, has denied the allegations. The lawsuits overlap with parts of the criminal case, which accuses him of defrauding 19 victims of more than $3 million. His next court appearance is scheduled for Sept. 17.
