Canadian basketball gets new home at Humber with $100 million in funding

Canada Basketball's new Hub at Humber Polytechnic brings elite training and six gyms. Backed by $100M, it’s set to boost community use and national basketball success.

Canada Basketball will build a new national facility at Humber Polytechnic’s North Campus in Etobicoke, Ontario, backed by $76 million from the federal government and $24 million from the province of Ontario. The planned centre, called “The Hub,” will include six gyms, a highperformance training space, and Canada Basketball’s national operations. Federal officials said the site is intended for community, provincial, national, and international use, with 32,000 community hours per year expected. The announcement was made by federal sport secretary Adam Van Koeverden alongside basketball players RJ Barrett, Michelle Plouffe, and Kelly Olynyk, as well as Ontario premier Doug Ford. Construction is expected to begin next year. The project is part of broader public funding for sport infrastructure and national sport organizations across Canada.
