Telus sues former employee over alleged $1.1 million credit card misuse
Telus lawsuit alleges $1.1M in credit card misuse by former employee See how the company says thousands of purchases fueled the claim
Telus has filed a civil lawsuit against a former employee, alleging they used company credit cards to charge nearly $1.1 million in purchases over several years.
According to the claim filed in British Columbia Supreme Court, the employee was hired in 2015 and had broad authority over procurement, equipment purchases and budgets. Telus says the alleged misuse began in 2020 through an Amazon business account tied to a corporate credit card.
The company says more than 2,500 items were bought, including household appliances, home theatre equipment, cameras and other consumer electronics, and that some of the goods were later resold online. Telus is seeking repayment, costs and additional damages. The allegations have not been proven in court.
