Ford said his own experience building a family business in the United States showed how closely linked the two countries are. He also warned that tariffs and trade disputes have strained the relationship and argued that protectionism does not work.
The premier pointed to the importance of crossborder trade, jobs and cooperation across the Great Lakes region, while ending his remarks with advice to graduates about teamwork, relationships and loyalty.
