Guinness theft shocks northwest England after 70,000 pints vanished from a depot Police hunt the stolen cargo worth 115,000 pounds and urge tips to help recover it
Police in northwest England are searching for two trailer truckloads of Guinness that were stolen from a depot near Liverpool. The beer, valued at about 115,000 pounds, was taken Monday night from an industrial park in Runcorn and was meant for pubs.
Investigators said the theft involved about 70,000 pints, or roughly 800 barrels of stout. Cheshire police said they are working to recover the stolen cargo and have asked for help from the public.
The case has drawn attention because of its unusual scale and comes after another recent beer theft in the United States.
