Ondo urges US regulators to allow stock perpetual futures onshore
Ondo Finance pushes SEC and CFTC to allow stock perpetuals in U.S. markets Backed by $8B volume, the move could bring onchain trading under U.S. oversight
Ondo Finance is asking the SEC and CFTC to permit perpetual futures tied to individual US stocks to trade in the United States under existing securities and derivatives rules.
In comment letters submitted on Aug. 24, the company argued that current law can already support these products, with modern margining and onchain market data fitting within the existing framework.
Ondo said its offshore affiliate has been offering stablecoinsettled stock perpetuals and reported $8 billion in cumulative trading volume within about six weeks of launch. The company also said bringing this activity back to US markets would better align it with domestic exchanges and regulatory oversight.
The request comes as US regulators review how older market rules apply to blockchainbased products, including tokenized securities and perpetual futures, and as the SEC and CFTC increase coordination on overlapping market supervision.
