Zelenskyy visits Canada for talks on support for Ukraine

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is in Canada this week for his first visit in nearly a year, as Ukraine faces continued Russian airstrikes. He is scheduled to be in the country from Wednesday to Friday. According to Prime Minister Mark Carney’s office, Zelenskyy and his wife, Olena Zelenska, will attend events in Calgary, Toronto and North Bay. Carney said the visit will highlight Canada’s support for Ukraine and discussions will focus on defence, economic and energy cooperation. Carney and Zelenskyy are expected to meet in Calgary on Thursday morning for a signing ceremony and a news conference. The trip comes after recent dronerelated disruption to Zelenskyy’s travel plans and amid renewed calls from Kyiv for more air defence support.
