The opening of the Gordie Howe International Bridge between Windsor, Ontario, and Detroit, Michigan, has been delayed as Canada and the United States work through unresolved issues.
The WindsorDetroit Bridge Authority said the two governments agreed to postpone the opening while they take more time to settle the remaining matters. The bridge had previously been expected to open by the end of the week.
The Canadian government fully funded the project, which will be publicly owned by Canada and Michigan. It is intended to improve crossborder traffic and support trade in the busy WindsorDetroit corridor, where about onethird of CanadaU.S. trade passes through.
