Senior man dies after house fire in Brampton
Brampton house fire kills senior man in late-night semi-detached blaze Police and fire officials are investigating the cause and smoke alarms
A senior man died after a house fire in Brampton on Wednesday evening, according to Peel police and Brampton fire officials. Emergency crews were called shortly after 11 p.m. to a semidetached home near Royal Salisbury Way and Archdekin Drive.
Fire Chief Andy Glynn said crews found flames coming from the house and heavy smoke inside. They located the man on the second floor and removed him from the home, but Peel paramedics later pronounced him dead at the scene. No one else was taken to hospital.
Officials said two other residents were away at the time, and people in the adjoining unit evacuated safely without injury. The Office of the Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire and will also look into whether smoke alarms were working.
