MoonPay Agrees to Buy North Capital in Tokenized Securities Push

MoonPay has signed an agreement to acquire North Capital Investment Technology, a privatemarkets infrastructure firm with brokerage and trading operations. The deal has been announced but has not yet closed. North Capital’s platform includes tools for capital raising, custody, clearing, investor onboarding, subscription escrow, and secondary trading for exempt securities. It also operates PPEX, a registered alternative trading system, and brings SECregistered brokerdealers, a transfer agent, and an investment adviser into MoonPay’s orbit once the transaction is completed. The acquisition is part of MoonPay’s broader effort to expand beyond crypto payments and into regulated infrastructure for tokenized securities. The move gives MoonPay a readymade legal and operational framework for private assets, which are still difficult to support without traditional market plumbing.
