Vancouver police fraud case: veteran officer accused of $3M scam Allegations span investors and a charity; see how the case is unfolding
Vancouver police say a veteran officer has been arrested and accused of defrauding 19 people out of about $3 million.
Kal Dosanjh, a 26year member of the Vancouver Police Department and CEO of the KidsPlay Youth Foundation, faces multiple charges including fraud over $5,000, theft over $5,000 and breach of trust. Police say the alleged offences date back to 2017 and involve both property development investors and the charity he founded.
Chief Steve Rai said Dosanjh has been suspended while the case moves through the courts, and investigators believe there may be more potential victims. Police began their investigation in December 2023 after several people came forward. Dosanjh's lawyers say he has committed no crime, and none of the charges has been proven in court.
