Police in Peterborough County say a boat operator has been charged after a man drowned in the Otonabee River near Peterborough, Ontario, on Tuesday evening.
According to OPP, emergency crews were called after a person fell from a boat near Bensfort Bridge in OtonabeeSouth Monaghan Township and did not resurface. Investigators said the missing man was not wearing a life jacket, and that alcohol had been consumed by people on the boat.
Divers later recovered the body of a 39yearold man from Oshawa. A 28yearold from WhitchurchStouffville was arrested and charged with operation causing death and impaired operation with a bloodalcohol concentration over 80. The accused was held for a court appearance in Peterborough.
