Ontario court records may have been exposed in cyberattack

Ontario court records breach may expose personal details from C-Track See what officials say was taken, who may be affected, and next steps

Ontario judicial officials say personal information from court records may have been stolen in a cyberattack tied to the CTrack casemanagement system used by the province’s appellate, superior and provincial courts. According to the notice, Thomson Reuters Canada Limited detected unauthorized activity in its cloud environment on June 30 and later determined the breach began in March. The company said court records from Ontario and several U.S. courts were obtained by an unauthorized party. The incident may have affected names and other personal details, and some confidential, redacted or sealed information could also have been involved. Officials say the courts’ own networks were not the source of the breach, and affected individuals may be offered support such as credit monitoring.
