Most CentreBC MLAs rejoin Conservatives after B.C. election is called

B.C. Conservatives reunite as seven CentreBC MLAs return before the Oct. 24 vote See how the split ends and what it means for the snap election battle

Seven MLAs from the breakaway CentreBC caucus are returning to the B.C. Conservatives after NDP Leader David Eby called a snap provincial election for Oct. 24. The move leaves Eleanor Sturko as the only CentreBC member not rejoining the Conservatives. Interim Conservative leader Lorne Doerkson and CentreBC leader Peter Milobar said the reunited group believes it can offer voters a governing alternative. The Conservatives criticized the early election as unnecessary, while Eby argued the vote was needed to respond to pressure from U.S. President Donald Trump and his trade dispute with Canada. The party split had developed after former leader KerryLynne Findlay stepped down on Sunday.
