Rain again delays National Bank Open in Montreal
National Bank Open in Montreal faces rain delays as men’s schedule keeps shifting Organizers cram 27 matches to catch up, with Canadians and top names still in play
Rain disrupted the National Bank Open in Montreal for a second straight day on Monday, forcing officials to keep adjusting the men’s schedule.
Play had been set to begin at 11 a.m. local time, but a downpour pushed the start back to noon and then later again. The weather also affected Sunday’s action, when only two of 14 scheduled firstround singles matches were completed.
To recover lost time, organizers packed Monday’s order of play with 27 firstround matches. That included Canadians Alexis Galarneau of Laval, Quebec, and Gabriel Diallo of Montreal, whose matches were moved after Sunday night’s session was cancelled. Other scheduled players included Liam Draxl, Gael Monfils, Kamil Majchrzak, Martin Damm and Stefanos Tsitsipas.
