Runway's Solaris previews the AI era of interfaces

Solaris turns apps and websites into live video with Runway’s new AI interface See how the early-access system works, where it shines, and its current limits

Runway has introduced Solaris in early access, an “Interface World Model” that turns websites and apps into live video rather than traditional coded interfaces. The system generates each frame in real time as users click and drag, with no code running underneath. According to the company, Solaris combines Runway’s Gen4.5 video model with a language model that interprets user actions and guides the next frames. Demonstrations included a virtual shirt tryon, a saladbuilding interface, and an interactive combustion example. Runway said its internal testing favored Solaris over pages built with Claude Opus 5 in many matchups, though the company also acknowledged current limitations such as weak text readability, drift in longer sessions, and occasionally convincing but incorrect screens. The release suggests one possible direction for future web interfaces, but it remains an early test rather than a finished product.
