A Kelowna construction worker is receiving support from his employer and coworkers after being diagnosed with stage 4 lung and brain cancer shortly after starting a new job with Northland Properties.
Curtiss Kelly was still in his 90day probation period and had been on the job for about 50 days when he learned of the diagnosis. He said one of his biggest worries was losing his job at the same time he was facing cancer.
Northland Properties fasttracked Kelly’s benefits before his probation period ended, and his crew also raised nearly $750 to help him and his partner. Kelly said the support has made an already difficult time more manageable as he begins treatment.
