François Bonnardel will not seek re-election in Quebec
François Bonnardel quits 2026 Quebec election as CAQ faces more departures See why the veteran minister’s exit matters for Granby and the CAQ campaign
Coalition Avenir Québec minister François Bonnardel says he will not run in Quebec’s 2026 provincial election. He will continue serving as the MNA for Granby until the end of his current mandate.
Bonnardel is the minister of immigration, francization and integration. He first won a seat in the National Assembly in 2007 and has been elected in six general elections.
His decision adds to a series of departures from CAQ politics ahead of the Oct. 5 election, including several other cabinet members and former premier François Legault.
