Police seize nearly $6,000 in baby formula and hygiene products after fraud arrest

Durham police say a 21yearold man was arrested in Whitby, Ontario, after staff at a Real Canadian Superstore reported suspected fraudulent payment attempts on Tuesday night. Officers responded to the Taunton Road West store around 10:20 p.m. and found the suspect inside. Police also say he had tried to make a separate fraudulent purchase earlier the same day at a Superstore in Ajax. A search of the man’s vehicle allegedly turned up more than $5,700 worth of baby formula and feminine hygiene products, along with a replica handgun. Police say the vehicle also had two different licence plates attached. The Vaughan man has been charged with fraud over $5,000, unauthorized use of credit card data, and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000. He was released on an undertaking while the allegations remain before the courts.
