Quebec City power outage hits 60,000 Hydro-Québec customers this weekend Get the timing, affected areas and winter-readiness tips before the planned work

About 60,000 HydroQuébec customers in and around Quebec City are expected to lose power this weekend during a planned service interruption linked to work at the Neufchâtel substation. The outage will affect parts of Quebec City, SaintGabrieldeValcartier and L'AncienneLorette. It is scheduled to begin Sunday at 5:30 p.m. and power is expected to be restored gradually starting Monday at 6:30 a.m. HydroQuébec says the work needs to be completed before winter to reduce the risk of a more serious failure that could lead to a longer outage and affect more customers. The utility has notified affected residents and is advising them to charge devices and keep flashlights and batteries ready.
