Anthropic launches $200 million economic futures research fund

Anthropic has announced the research agenda for its Economic Futures Research Fund, committing $200 million to support external research on how society can prepare for the economic effects of artificial intelligence. The fund will back studies, pilots, and evaluations focused on labor markets, retraining, income support, worker participation in AIdriven growth, and public investments. Anthropic said it wants evidence on which policies and programs could make the economy more adaptable, spread AIrelated gains more broadly, and reduce disruption for workers and communities. The company said it will mainly support large projects in the $5 million to $30 million range, with an emphasis on universities, research institutes, and nonprofits that can run largescale experiments or pilots. The initiative is global, though many of the outlined priorities are based on US policy questions.
