Ontario and Utah sign trade cooperation deal

Ontario has signed a memorandum of understanding with Utah to expand trade and economic cooperation, the province said Monday. Premier Doug Ford and Utah Governor Spencer Cox agreed to work more closely on sectors including critical minerals, defence manufacturing, artificial intelligence, and energy.
The agreement is part of Ford’s broader effort to build direct ties with U.S. states. Ontario has now signed economic cooperation deals with nine American states since 2023, including Michigan, New York, and Pennsylvania.
The province said annual trade between Ontario and Utah is already close to $7 billion, and the new deal is intended to support business links, workforce development, academic cooperation, and trade missions.
