Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is calling on the United States and European allies to provide additional missile defenses as Russia continues its attacks on Ukraine.
In a post on X, Zelenskyy said Kyiv was hit by a large Russian strike overnight involving dozens of missiles and hundreds of drones. He said Ukraine’s forces intercepted many of the weapons, but not the ballistic missiles, and argued that more interceptor missiles are needed to protect civilians.
Zelenskyy made the appeal as NATO leaders prepared to meet in Ankara, Turkey, with President Donald Trump expected to attend. He urged allies to leave the summit with concrete decisions to strengthen Ukraine’s air defense capabilities.
