Quebec's police disciplinary tribunal has suspended three provincial police officers and two Montreal police officers over a 2018 road chase in Montreal that ended with a woman being seriously injured.
According to the ruling released last week, officers pursued a suspect through downtown Montreal and the PlateauMontRoyal area before the chase ended on Sherbrooke Street, where the driver struck the woman as she was shovelling snow outside her home.
The tribunal said the pursuit should not have continued because the suspect was driving with a suspended licence and the route passed through a densely populated area with pedestrians, schools, parks, and bike paths. The suspensions are effective for between 30 and 42 days, and four officers were also ordered to complete additional training on police driving or pursuits.
