Eric Lombardi drops out of Ontario Liberal leadership race

Ontario Liberal leadership race narrows after Eric Lombardi exits and backs Lee Fairclough See what Lombardi’s endorsement means for the remaining candidates before the Nov. 21 vote

Housing advocate Eric Lombardi has ended his campaign for the Ontario Liberal leadership and endorsed legislature member Lee Fairclough. Lombardi said he believed being a young, unelected candidate would be difficult and that he lacked confidence in fundraising enough to finish the race without taking on debt. Four candidates remain in the contest, including Fairclough, former federal cabinet minister Navdeep Bains, legislature member Stephanie Bowman and former political staffer Dylan Marando. The party plans to announce its next leader on Nov. 21.
