Ontario MPPs are set to leave Queen's Park for a 21week summer recess after sitting for 30 days since the end of a 14week winter break.
Government House Leader Steve Clark said the legislature will return on Oct. 27, one day after municipal elections, to avoid affecting that process. Opposition leaders criticized the timing, arguing the government is avoiding scrutiny on recent controversies.
The recess means the legislature will not sit through the summer and much of the fall before members return in late October.
