A new DoorDash report found that the price of a cheeseburger, fries and soda varies widely across U.S. cities, reflecting differences in local operating costs and broader inflation trends.
Austin, Texas, ranked as the cheapest city in the study, with an average meal price of $12.94. At the other end of the scale, Anchorage, Alaska, was the most expensive at $28.28.
DoorDash said cities in the South and Southeast tend to be more affordable, while rising restaurant costs continue to outpace many grocery categories. The company said labor, rent and energy help explain much of the variation from one local market to another.
