Susie Wiles describes cancer treatment while serving as White House chief of staff
Susie Wiles breast cancer treatment strain and recovery amid White House work See how purpose, support and surgery results helped her keep going
White House chief of staff Susie Wiles has detailed the strain of undergoing breast cancer treatment while leading President Donald Trump’s staff in Washington.
In a USA Today oped published Sunday, Wiles said chemotherapy often made even basic tasks feel difficult, but she kept working because it gave her a sense of purpose beyond doctor visits and test results.
Wiles said the illness affected her energy, mobility and focus, and that support from her family, colleagues and medical team helped her through treatment. She also said recent surgery showed no remaining cancer and that she is now focused on recovery.
In a post on X, Wiles said she wanted to share her experience to encourage others facing cancer and to show that the disease does not have to define who they are.
