Police release sketch in attempted child abduction case in Abbotsford

Police in Abbotsford, British Columbia, have released a composite sketch of a suspect linked to an attempted child abduction reported last week. According to investigators, two girls under 10 were playing outside an apartment complex on Marshall Road around 5:30 p.m. on July 22 when they were approached by an unknown man. Police say he tried to persuade them to get into his vehicle, but the girls called out to their parents, who were nearby, and the man left. The children were not hurt. The Abbotsford Police Department says the suspect is believed to be a man in his 50s, about fivefootfive to fivefootnine, with a heavy build and a noticeable belly. Police also say he may have been driving a lightcoloured sedan. The major crime unit is asking anyone who recognizes him or has dashcam or surveillance footage from the area to contact investigators.
