Man found dead after Verdun Beach search
Montreal police confirm a Verdun Beach drowning after a young man went missing See what investigators know and how local safety measures are changing
Montreal police say a young man who went missing while swimming at Verdun Beach on Friday evening has been found dead. Emergency crews, including police and firefighters, searched the area after two men entered the water around 7:20 p.m.; one returned to shore while the other did not.
Police said the body was recovered overnight and his death was confirmed on Saturday morning. Investigators said there is no indication of criminal activity, and the coroner's office will determine the exact circumstances.
The incident comes after several drownings in the Verdun Beach area last year, which led local authorities to add safety measures and launch a water safety awareness campaign this month.
