A proposed housing development in North Vancouver has been returned for revisions after district staff raised concerns about its size and parking plan.
The Seymour River Place project in the Maplewood Village neighbourhood would add 40 apartments, including seven belowmarket rental units. But staff said the sixstorey proposal goes beyond the site’s fourstorey zoning, and its plan for 26 parking stalls falls far short of the 74 spaces required under current bylaws.
District officials warned the reduced parking could spill onto nearby streets. The developer said meeting the full parking requirement would add significant costs, while a planning consultant argued the project should prioritize housing and transit access over more parking. The proposal is now being revised and may include a transportation study that could lower the parking requirement.
