Young girl critically injured after fall from Ottawa apartment balcony

A young girl was critically injured on Saturday morning after falling from an 11thfloor balcony in an apartment building on Alta Vista Drive in Ottawa, according to paramedics. Ottawa Paramedic Service said crews were called to the 1500 block of Alta Vista Drive at 11:22 a.m. The child was assessed at the scene and then taken to CHEO’s emergency department in critical condition. Witnesses described the incident as traumatic, and local councillor Marty Carr called it an absolute tragedy.
