Montreal public health officials are advising residents to take precautions as hot and humid weather is expected to affect the city and parts of southern Quebec and Ontario from Wednesday through at least Saturday.
At a briefing on Tuesday, Dr. David Kaiser said the heat is not expected to reach Montreal’s emergency threshold, but it could still create health risks, especially for vulnerable people. He advised those moving apartments to start early, take breaks, and drink plenty of water.
Environment Canada has issued a yellow alert for the Montreal region, with daytime highs of 30 C to 33 C and humidex values that could reach the low 40s. Officials also urged people to check on neighbours, limit alcohol use during Canada Day celebrations, and watch for signs of heat exhaustion.
