Solana raises maximum transaction size to 4,096 bytes

Solana transaction size limit jumps to 4,096 bytes for complex onchain apps Support v1 transactions and unlock more room for proofs, signatures, and scale

Solana has increased its maximum transaction size from 1,232 bytes to 4,096 bytes in a mainnet upgrade activated on Tuesday at the start of epoch 1,035. The change gives developers more room to include complex operations in a single transaction, such as zeroknowledge proofs, multiple signatures, and other new onchain signature schemes. The Solana Foundation said the update is meant to help applications handle workloads that previously did not fit within one transaction. The upgrade also introduced the v1 transaction format, which remains backward compatible with legacy transactions. Existing wallets and applications can continue using older formats, while protocols that want the larger limit will need to adopt v1 transactions.
