CBC investigation links Canadian finance firm to sanctioned money-laundering network
Maple Finance links to TGR money-laundering network raise major red flags CBC report reveals shell-company ties and sanctioned links—see the details
CBC and the Centre for Information Resilience say a Vancouverbased company called Maple Digital Financial Solutions, also known as Maple Finance, has links to the sanctioned TGR moneylaundering network.
The investigation says the company presents itself as a modern banking and payments provider, but appears to operate as a shell entity with little publicfacing information. Researchers and former financial intelligence officials cited multiple warning signs, including shared directors, matching contact details, and connections to firms tied to TGR.
According to the report, Andrejs Carenoks, who was sanctioned by the U.S. in 2024, was previously a director at Maple Finance, while current director Janis Zvigulis is also linked to other TGRrelated companies. CBC says it sought comment from the people and firms involved but did not receive a response.
