Ukrainian prime minister resigns in Zelenskyy government reshuffle

Ukraine’s Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko resigned on Sunday as President Volodymyr Zelenskyy continues to reorganize his wartime government during the conflict with Russia. Svyrydenko said on social media that she was proud to have led the government during one of the hardest periods in Ukraine’s modern history. She said she had discussed next steps with Zelenskyy and would remain ready to serve the state in a different role. Zelenskyy said the change is part of a broader shift in Ukraine’s political strategy and indicated that Svyrydenko may take on a new position tied to relations with a key international partner. He also said further changes could follow in other parts of the government, including law enforcement leadership. Svyrydenko became prime minister in July 2025 after serving as economy minister and playing a central role in a UkraineUS minerals agreement. Her resignation marks the fourth major government reshuffle since Russia’s fullscale invasion of Ukraine began.
