Possible tornado damages Harrington, Quebec, in the Laurentians

Authorities are working to confirm whether a storm that hit Harrington, Que., on Tuesday evening was a tornado. Environment Canada said radar data suggests a tornado may have formed around 5:34 p.m. and lasted about 10 minutes before moving through the Laurentians municipality. Officials reported storm damage including uprooted trees, broken branches and damaged utility poles. The Sûreté du Québec said it received multiple calls from residents, while officers carried out wellness checks on Wednesday morning. No injuries have been reported so far. HydroQuébec said 431 addresses in Harrington were still without power early Wednesday, and nearly 4,000 homes were affected across the Laurentians as crews assessed the damage. Researchers at the Northern Tornado Project are expected to help confirm whether the event was in fact a tornado.
