Kelowna store transforms crash damage into mural artwork
Kelowna consignment shop mural turns crash damage into a bright public display See how Sweet Repeats transformed a broken storefront into a neighborhood draw
A Kelowna consignment shop is turning damage from a vehicle crash into a public artwork display.
After a car drove through the front windows of Sweet Repeats Consignment Co. on June 13, owner Deb Liebholtz faced a storefront covered in plywood. Instead of leaving it as a plain repair site, she asked local artist Melissa Dinwoodie to create something welcoming and upbeat.
Dinwoodie painted a bright floral mural on the temporary wall, finishing the piece in about seven hours. Liebholtz said the artwork has already drawn attention from passersby and helped turn the damaged storefront into a more positive part of the neighborhood. She said the mural will stay even after repairs are completed.
